2014 Chevy Silverado Cylinder Deactivation
I’ve been sharing with you some of what I learned in the Silverados recently. Well, this is probably one of the most exciting things about it to me (living in the mountains of Western North Carolina and driving to any of our locations in Sylva, Waynesville, Canton, Asheville or Hendersonville gas mileage is kinda a big deal!). In a nutshell, this feature allows your V8 Silverado to mimic a 4 cylinder engine for a little while if you’re cruising on the highway. That’s a pretty spectacular feature and saves a boatload in fuel costs for people who are frequently driving on the Highway or Interstate. It’s a huge reason that the Silverado 8-cyl is rated at 16 City and 23 Highway MPG! Check on the video below:
Yeah, just by hitting the pedal (for instance, if I’m speeding up to pass somebody) it kicks back in to the full V8 mode on demand and when you resume cruising it will deactivate half the cylinders again to keep saving you fuel. Now when I said it “kicks back in” that was figurative because it’s such a smooth transition you probably won’t even realize it’s happening unless you are watching the little icon there we showed you in the video. Awesome feature to save you money over the life of the vehicle and get you some of the best MPG out of any trucks around. Most people will buy a Silverado with this feature and probably won’t even remember that it’s there since it takes no engagement whatsoever from the driver. That is, until they notice it sure has been a while since they’ve had to stop by the gas station!
So, what are you waiting for? Need more information before making a decision? Call our World Class Internet Department today and they’ll answer whatever questions you may have at (800) 680-0835. Or, if you’re ready to come check them out in-person than check out our Silverados and schedule your test drive online.
As always, thank you very much for reading!
